The
history of LAUTERBACHER RC-Cars respectively Lauterbacher modelsportproducts
began in the years 1987/88. Werner and Dietmar Lauterbacher bought
the first large scale RC-Cars (DWA Blue 2 M 1:4 and Yankee Cross-Control
M 1:6). Unfortunately these models were not of high quality and had
a rather bad driving performance.
It
didn´t take long before the first improvements and new parts
for personal needs were manufactured. This was done in the metal-working
factory of their father Erich Lauterbacher. He had founded the company
in 1959. About at the same time, Bernd Sachs, a friend of the house
and now responsible for the world wide sales of Lauterbacher products,
also started liking the big ones and one more DWA Blue 2 M 1:4 was
bought.
In
the early nineties it was decided to develop, fabricate and sell a
5th scale race car. The scale 1/5 was chosen, as the quarter scales
were difficult to transport because of their size. After a lot of
development and driving tests the first Lauterbacher L1´s were
sold in June of 1993. Everybody was a bit proud to be the first to
manufacture a RC-Car made completely out of aluminum, which was optionaly
also obtainable as a 4 wheel driven version. The L1 was powered from
a 22 cc two stroke engine from Italy, which was also tuned up from
Lauterbacher. Besides car bodies, a Ferrari F40 and Mini Cooper, for
the street a buggy shell 1/6scale was available.

In
april 1994 a 5th scale Opel (Vauxhaul ) DTM Calibra car shell followed.
But the development went on and already in august 1995 the first L2´s
were delivered. These had a toothed belt as driving mechanism. and a
new chassis.The L2 models where offered with the Ferrari F 40, Mini-Cooper,
OPEL-DTM-CALIBRA, Mercedes C 291 and all other commonly used shells.
This version was the first to also use the newly developed Solo sport
engine.
Already
in January 97 the L3 was ready for delivery. The driving mechanism was
changed to a toothed gear version and the suspension was also modified.
All commonly available car shells where obtainable. The L 3 was delivered
either with the LM 23-, Solo- or Zenoah-engine. In December 98 the first
L3 Evolution models rolled out of the factory. In comparision to the
normal L3, this model had a completley modified indirect suspension
system with adjustable stabilizers, similar to the kind used in real
F1 racing. The Evolution is up to date the most successful Lauterbacher
car. Numerous national and international drivers trust on the speed
and reliability of the L 3 EVO.
Besides
the German championship 99, world cup 99 and second in the European
championship 99, many races in Europe
and abroad have been successfully completed. The L 3 EVO can be ordered
either with Zenoah or Solo motor.
Since July 2000 the L3 EVO 2000 is available. It has a fully new framework
chassis. The main advantage is the 100% stiffness of this chassis. Constructionwise
this car can only be delivered with 535mm wheelbase and Solo engine.
